Dedicated to Yanique Wilson Affectionately known as "Ya Ya".
The first button pin was pressed in honor of a popular young Harlem teen in my neighborhood named Yanique Wilson. She was affectionately known as "Ya Ya", and departed from us on June 8, 2003, the result of a tragic fire. This date forever remains etched in my heart, for ironically it is also my birth date.
Her younger brother, Arhmed, later became my apprentice, and has proven to be masterful in the art of manufacturing button pins as orders started picking up around the neighborhood as well as and other venues connected to my already established graphic design biz.
Ya Ya is frequently remembered in celebration by family, friends and community, with button pins commemorating her birthday, anniversary and special family events. Each button made, continues to represent the eternal spirit of this wonderful young teen, spreading not only in her familial neighborhood, but throughout the world! All the while adding smiles, much like hers, to many, many faces.
Salute to Ya Ya! She birthed these buttonpins, so her legacy lives!
